Marine Benefits AS prides itself as the shipping industry’s specialist in employment benefit solutions for seafarers. Aimed at providing the international shipping industry with truly global employee benefit solutions, Marine Benefits ultimately offers solutions that would enable its clients to increase attraction and retention, providing peace of mind for the employer, employee, and his/her family.
In consonance with its mission, Marine Benefits is the first in the industry to develop programs aimed at assisting ship owners and ship management companies to fulfill the social security requirements of the Maritime Labour Convention 2006 (MLC 2006).
Our experience, expertise, and underwriting contacts positions us to provide the industry with efficient and affordable solutions to the social security requirements laid down in Chapter 4.5 of the MLC 2006. Our Group Medical Insurance for seafarers and their families is already implemented for around 25,000 people from 40 different countries. In addition we are offering affordable programs covering areas of Disability, Invalidity, and Life.
Established in 2006 and regulated by the Financial Supervisory Authority of Norway, Marine Benefits is jointly owned by the Norwegian Hull Club and MHG Marine Benefits, and its head office is located in Bergen, Norway. Underwriting capabilities are provided through Lloyd’s of London, a solid testament to its financial stability.
Realizing the importance of providing total peace of mind for the whole family as well as the employer, Marine Benefits’ solutions often include not just protection of the employee, but also the employees’ spouse and children. Our programs cover the employee during vacation periods and the family year around.
Marine Benefits Assistance Services Inc. - our fully owned subsidiary in Manila - provides client service, claims handling, and day-to-day member support, in coordination with our affiliated medical provider networks and local call centers in many parts of the world. Through its use of the latest technology, dedicated personnel, and modern communication systems, immediate client support is guaranteed and virtually paperless.
